Each year, Axis of Hope leads a service-learning trip for high school and college students to Rwanda, a central African country nation with a long and substantive history. This trip is designed to complement Axis of Hope’s mission of developing in young people an understanding of alternative, non-violent approaches to resolving conflict as well as provides an opportunity to work hands-on in a new and meaningful environment.
This trip will expose students to new and unfamiliar cultures, entrench them in a community through service-learning projects and housing with local families, as well as an opportunity for international travel. In years past, service-learning projects included working with St. Famille and Home of Hope orphanages.
This trip is recommended for students of all interest and backgrounds. This trip provides for experiences and opportunities that will be meaningful and worthwhile for those of any discipline and focus. Space for the trip is limited and will be decided based on a competitive application process.
